GlucoGlance can display diabetes information for the person using the phone and, when supported, glucose information for other people they follow.
Understanding the difference between a Phone Owner and a Follow User helps make sure GlucoGlance uses the correct data sources.
Phone Owner
The Phone Owner is the person using GlucoGlance on their phone.
Apps installed on the phone that belong to that person are generally treated as Phone Owner data sources. These may include:
- CGM apps
- Insulin pump apps
- Diabetes logging apps
- Companion apps such as GlucoDataHandler, Juggluco, xDrip+, or Gluroo
These applications provide glucose, insulin, meal, or other diabetes information for the person carrying the phone.
For example, if you use a FreeStyle Libre, Dexcom, Eversense, or another supported CGM yourself, that CGM information belongs to the Phone Owner.
Follow User
A Follow User is another person whose glucose information you want to see in GlucoGlance.
This may be:
- Your child
- Your spouse or partner
- A parent
- Another family member
- Another loved one you help monitor
Follow apps and Follow services are used to obtain glucose information for that other person.
The Follow User does not need to be the person using the phone.
The Simple Difference
Phone Owner sources represent your own diabetes information.
Follow sources represent another person you are following.
For example:
If you wear a CGM yourself, that CGM is a Phone Owner source.
If you also follow your child through a supported Follow service, your child is added as a Follow User.
GlucoGlance can then keep your glucose information separate from the glucose information of the people you follow.
Why This Matters
Selecting the correct type of source helps GlucoGlance know which readings belong to you and which readings belong to someone else.
Your CGM, pump, diabetes logger, and Companion applications should normally be associated with the Phone Owner.
Follow applications should normally be used for other people you follow.
This also helps prevent the same glucose readings from being added twice through different sources.
